About CFS
Central Farm Service (CFS) is a farmer-owned cooperative that emerged from the consolidation of several successful, agriculture-focused cooperatives with deep-rooted traditions in their communities. This union has allowed CFS to build upon past experiences while focusing on future advancements to serve its members effectively.
Grain services are a cornerstone of CFS's operations, designed to meet the evolving needs of modern agriculture. Recognizing the importance of efficiency during harvest seasons, CFS has equipped its facilities to handle grain swiftly, enabling farmers to return to their fields promptly. The cooperative maintains strong connections with local ethanol producers and soybean processors, and operates 100-car shuttle train loaders in Delavan, St. James, Randolph, and Welcome. These strategic locations on two different railroads provide access to markets nationwide and globally.
To support farmers in navigating the complexities of grain marketing, CFS offers a variety of grain contracts tailored to different risk management strategies. These include basis contracts, which allow for grain delivery while maintaining pricing flexibility, and other tools designed to help producers capture favorable market conditions. CFS's full-time Grain Advisors work closely with farmers to develop and execute these strategies, providing personalized guidance and market insights.
CFS operates numerous grain facilities across Minnesota and Iowa, ensuring accessibility for its members. Key locations include Clarks Grove, Delavan, Dennison, Dolliver, Freeborn, Hayfield, Kenyon, Lewisville, Minnesota Lake, Northfield, Randolph, St. James, Truman, Welcome, Wells, and Winnebago. Each facility is staffed with experienced professionals dedicated to assisting farmers with their grain storage and marketing needs.
Beyond grain services, CFS offers a comprehensive suite of agricultural products and services, including agronomy, feed, and energy solutions. The cooperative is guided by five core principles: prioritizing customers, embracing change for the benefit of members, giving back to communities, providing avenues for employee growth, and fostering a sense of ownership among all stakeholders.
Through its extensive grain services and commitment to cooperative values, CFS continues to support its members by providing the resources and expertise necessary to thrive in the dynamic agricultural industry.
